BLOG 1 EME Assignment
When it comes to why students and teachers utilize technology, I think the easy answer is: because it makes their lives easier. Technology enhances the already present tools teachers use in there classrooms, like attendance sheets, assignment scoring records, and communication with students and parents.
When thinking about the ISTE standards that students and teachers are presented with, one that falls into the category of a standard that I posses is the "Global Collaborator". I have had much experience with understand what is going on in the world and how that effects certain students of different backgrounds, i.e.: race and ethnicities. Another ISTE skill standard that would not be considered my strong suit would be the "Innovative Designer". I am in no way a engineer in any of the "Stem" fields, but I can problem solve and troubleshoot; however, finding new designs and new technology to improve already existing platforms would not be considered my forte. I will however always keep an open mind when trying to come up with new ways to improve relations with students and parents.
The term "Digital Native" is an expression used to describe the current generation who has been constantly embroiled and surrounded with technology. The term describes the youth as a generation that has been brought up and reared through many technological advances. They are very adapt at handling and integrating technology in their everyday lives. The current millennial generation is poised to enhance and carry the future of technology. The "Digital Native" generation has embraced technology in the classroom and I feel they respond well to have more advancements in the classroom. I am of the same generation as many of these new tech kids, and I feel that I will be able to keep up and maybe in teach some of them how to further their integration with technology. It is a good thing, and one that will help the edification of students in the education industry.
